Amanda Bossard graduated from high school in 1992 and began her studies in marine science at Alaska Pacific University, Anchorage. Bossard began her professional career in the field of commercial seafood worker in the year 1999. She began to work with the ship F/V Sunset a 65' halibut-schooner and was later converted into a salmon tender in the name of Murat Aritan who was employed in commercial fishing since. Bossard and Aritan are married now and have come together to stake their claim to their respective industries. They are supporters of conservative and profitable renewable seafood resource management. Otolith is a direct wholesale seafood company, was established in the year 2007 by Bella Bossard (age three), Andre Bossard (1 year old) and Bossard's mother. Bossard had returned to Philadelphia after the birth of her two children. She and her husband are separated by 5 months and she is able to concentrate on her finances as well as her environmental goals. Bossard, her son Andre and daughter Isabella will return home to Southeast Alaska every summer as deckhands in the harvest of wild salmon. In the course of two months, Bossard, along with her daughter Isabella use hooks & lines to hunt for their desired salmon. Aritan will then sell their seafood for processing locally.
